360° POST PRODUCTION

Professional 360° video post production handled personally by a specialist with over 12 years of dedicated experience. From raw footage to finished film, every stage matters.

More Than Just Editing

360° video post production is fundamentally different to conventional video editing. Almost every stage of the workflow requires a different approach and getting any part of it wrong will show immediately in the finished film.

I work with footage shot on all major 360° camera systems and handle every stage of the post production process personally. Whether you need me to edit footage I've shot on location or process footage that someone else has captured, the same level of care and specialist knowledge goes into every project.

What 360° Post Production Actually Involves

Most clients are surprised by how involved the post production process actually is. Here's what goes into creating a polished, professional 360° film.

Footage organisation and data management Before any editing begins, all footage is carefully logged, organised and documented. A structured offline workflow is created from the start, keeping the edit process clean and efficient while protecting the original files throughout.

Grip and tripod removal Because a 360° camera captures everything in every direction, the equipment used to support it during filming is always in the shot. Removing it cleanly requires compositing techniques and a solid understanding of how the 360° spherical environment works. Where it can be done it makes a significant difference to the final result. Not every shot makes it possible but where it is, it's done properly.

Editing and colour grading The edit is constructed using a combination of specialist 360° editing software and the Adobe Creative Suite including Premiere Pro and After Effects. Colour grading in 360° requires careful attention as the grade must work consistently across the entire spherical image rather than just within a standard frame.

360° VR Motion Graphics Titles, logos, graphics and animations integrated directly into the 360° spherical environment. Graphics in a 360° space behave differently to conventional video and placing them so they read naturally to a viewer inside a headset or on screen requires specific knowledge and the right tools.

Music and sound Music, sound effects and any recorded audio are carefully mixed and integrated into the edit. Basic stereo audio recorded on location can also be cleaned, synced and integrated as part of this process.

Rendering for the correct platform This is where the process becomes genuinely technical. Different platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Meta Quest, Apple Vision Pro and various other VR headsets all have specific requirements for codec, bitrate, resolution, frame rate and metadata. Getting any of these wrong means the film won't play back correctly on its intended platform. I use a combination of Insta360 Studio, Adobe Premiere, Topaz Labs and FFmpeg to ensure every film is rendered precisely to the specification required for wherever it will be viewed.

Reframing for flat screens Once the 360° film is complete, the same footage can be reframed to create a conventional flat video version suitable for TV, digital signage or any standard screen. A popular add-on that gives clients two completely different finished films from a single production.

Why Post Production Matters

Even perfectly shot 360° footage will look amateur without skilled post production. The edit, the grade, the grip removal, the motion graphics and the rendering process all require specialist knowledge and the right tools. Understanding what goes into it is part of understanding where your budget is going and why working with a dedicated 360° specialist makes sense.

Do You Have Footage That Needs Editing?

I regularly work with footage shot by others. Production companies, brands and individuals who have captured 360° content but lack the specialist knowledge or software to process it correctly come to me at the post production stage. If you have 360° footage that needs editing, formatting or just getting into the right shape for its intended platform, get in touch.
